Amgen Gives $30,000 to CSU Channel Islands

California State University, Channel Islands received a $30,000 donation from Amgen for scholarships for students in the graduate level biotechnology program and related fields. “We are thrilled that Amgen is providing this scholarship fund to our professional science master’s programs. I believe that this is the first scholarship donation to graduate programs on our campus,” stated Dr. Ching-Hua Wang, biology chair and director of CSU Channel Islands’ graduate level biotechnology and bioinformatics programs. CSU Channel Islands has graduated 36 students from such programs and seeks to graduate more with this financial boost from Amgen. Students enrolled at the Camarillo-based university benefit from the fact that they are in a 40-mile radius of more than 40 biotech companies and start-ups.
