AVEK to swear in newcomer and incumbents to water board this month

PALMDALE – Flowing from an election that turned on the public debate over whether drinking water treated with chloramines is safe, two incumbents and one newcomer will be sworn in as officers of the Antelope Valley-East Kern Water Agency this month. The incumbents, businessman George Lane, and agriculturalist Dave Rizzo, contended the use of chloramines – a mix of chlorine and ammonia – to purify drinking water is safe within all government guidelines, and safe in general.
