Burbank City Council Votes Down Whole Foods

The Burbank City Council Tuesday voted down a contentious Whole Foods Market near the Rancho equestrian district. The City Council voted 3-2 to deny the construction of the store at Alameda Avenue and Main Street. Neighbors had raised concerns that the project would have created traffic problems. The developer had agreed to reduce the size of the nearly 60,000-square-foot store and fund traffic and safety mitigation, but the council rejected the proposal. The council also voted to help the Texas-based company find another site in the city.
