Agoura-Oak Park-Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce: On Tuesday, July 21, the Chamber sponsored a Luncheon featuring Senator Tony Strickland addressing the issue of California’s budget crisis. Calabasas Chamber of Commerce: The Calabasas Chamber of Commerce introduced the 2009 Education and Scholarship Award honorees during a Calabasas City Council meeting held on June 24. Calabasas area graduating middle and high school students were recognized for good attendance, positive attitudes, academic accomplishments, and community service. Four middle school students received Education Awards and two graduating seniors each received a Scholarship through funds that were raised from the Chamber’s annual Bowling Tournament and challenge for the Cal Cup. Canoga Park/West Hills Chamber of Commerce: The Canoga Park/West Hills Chamber’s “Tour de Vin” held an evening of wine and music on Thursday, July 30, 2009, 6 -8 p.m. at the Hidden Chateau and Gardens in West Hills. This event offered an opportunity to network with not only Chamber members, but also individuals from the community. The following exhibitors were on hand at the event: Liquid Wine and Spirits, The Wine Shop, Giessinger Winery, San Marcos Creek, Vista Vineyards, Ventura Limoncellos Co, BJ’s Restaurant and Brewery and more. Hors d’oeuvres and Desserts were served by Chamber members, including, Bella Donna Special Events and Catering, Marriott Warner Center, Hilton Woodland Hills, Cavaretta’s Italian Deli and Groceries and more. This is the third year for the Wine Tasting and recently renamed “Tour de Vin”. The Chamber is working with Chamber Non-Profits by donating a portion of each ticket sold by the Non-Profit back to their organization. Encino Chamber of Commerce: The Encino Chamber of Commerce presented its Business & Professional Development Lunch on Tuesday, July 21 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The Luncheon was held at Monterey At Encino, 16821 Burbank Blvd. This month’s guest speaker was Mitchell Englander, Chief of Staff for Councilmember Greig Smith’s office. This month’s meeting was sponsored by KSA Management. KSA Management presents the 22nd Annual Taste of Encino on Sunday, October 11, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. located on Ventura Boulevard between Balboa and Amestoy. Admission is free. Sample the Food & Beverage booths, visit the Health & Wellness Pavilion, and attend the Disaster Preparedness Exhibit & Expo. There are also arts & crafts booths, children’s activities, and continuous entertainment. The cost is $15. The first half hour is devoted to business consultants sharing networking tips such as how to effectively ask for referrals and how to present yourself at networking events. The second half hour is devoted to networking This is a non-competing event, meaning it is not exclusive to one person per profession. You do not have to be a NVRCC member to attend, and you can pay at the door or ahead of time by contacting the Chamber office. Universal City-North Hollywood Chamber of Commerce: On Saturday, July 25, the Universal City-North Hollywood Chamber held a Fitness Challenge at the East Valley Y.M.C.A.at 5142 Tujunga Avenue, North Hollywood, CA 91601. This event was co-sponsored by the United Chambers of Commerce, the Economic Alliance, and VICA. Village Joe donated dozens of prizes. This event provided an opportunity for various 501(c)3 charities to raise funds for their causes, while having fun and promoting physical fitness. The Y.M.C.A., Boy Scouts of America (Soccer and Scouting), American Cancer Society, and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society participated. The Chamber is seeking individuals, charities, employers, and prize donors. Each charity recruited its own participants. Tri-Chamber Event: Congressman Brad Sherman will address a Tri-Chamber Business Luncheon Wednesday, August 19. This luncheon will be held at Maggiano’s at Westfield Promenade, 11:30a.m.-1:15p.m. A Constituent Services Booth with Rep. Sherman’s staff will be available before and after the Luncheon for members and guests to ask further questions or request help regarding business issues.
