BURBANK , City officials have asked each department head to cut 5% from their budgets for the coming fiscal year due to an expected $7-million deficit. This could result in services being reduced and vacant positions frozen, officials said. The deficit in the city’s 2009-10 budget can be covered from the city’s cash reserves, but city executives plan to meet Tuesday to strategize options on how to cut costs, City Manager Mike Flad said.
