Defense Sales Boosts AML in Q2

Increased sales in its defense business contributed to AML Communications Inc. to post a 66 percent increase in net income for the second quarter. The Camarillo-based designer and manufacturer of amplifiers and integrated assemblies reported a net income of $173,000, or $0.02 per diluted share, on revenues of $3.4 million for the quarter ending Sept. 30. For the same period a year ago, the company reported a net income of $104,000, or $0.01 per diluted share, on revenues of $3.2 million. AML’s subsidiary Mica-Tech reported a net income of $36,000 for the quarter, compared to the net loss of $184,000 for the same period in 2007. The company attributes the return to profitability for Mica-Tech to cost and efficiency management steps taken over the last 12 months.
