Valley Clothiers Shut Down Two clothing manufacturers in the northeast San Fernando Valley are closing their doors following a failed merger, leaving about 275 people unemployed. Richard’s Sportswear, which was located in San Fernando, and Babbi Casuals Co., based in Pacoima, closed their shops last week. Officials at both companies cited high labor costs and competition from Mexican clothing makers as the cause. Babbi made jeans for Guess, Calvin Klein and other labels while Richards made sportswear as well as jeans.
