Social media company fix8 was recognized with the Best in Show award at the iHollywood Forum’s Digital Media Summit, the company announced Friday. Sherman Oaks-based fix8 created an application allowing people to customize their on-screen virtual appearance for use in video blogging, instant messaging and TV. A panel of three entertainment industry professionals chose fix8 for the award from a field of six digital and social media companies taking part in the Digital Media Summit in Hollywood March 13-14. The companies sought funding and partnerships. The company was honored to receive the first ever Best of Show award, said Dinesh Bhatia, vice president of global sales. “Beyond the award, the judges’ comments and the audience votes validate our path toward making user-generated reality and user-generated animation an important addition in the authoring of rich, highly expressive content in real time,” Bhatia said.
