Feds Launches Recovery Website

The federal government has launched a website that it says will provide transparency and give Americans critical information about how the $787 billion economic stimulus package is being implemented. The main page of Recovery.gov announces the goal for the site with this statement: “This is your money. You have a right to know where it’s going and how it’s being spent. Learn what steps we’re taking to ensure you can track our progress every step of the way.” Viewers are currently able to read the entire text of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, commonly referred to as the stimulus package, and see a rough breakdown of how the money is supposed to be allocated. The site promises future announcements of funds disbursements to federal agencies and states and federal contract requests for proposals will be added as they occur. Linda Coburn
