First Look Studios has bought out independent home entertainment distributor Ventura Distribution, which includes a 75,000-square foot facility in Thousand Oaks. The new venture now controlled by First Look has been named Ventura Home Entertainment. The acquisition is an important step in First Look becoming a vertically-integrated studio, chief executive officer Henry Winterstern said in a prepared statement. “We’ve acquired these assets, along with the Ventura brand name, because of the respect they command in the marketplace,” Winterstern said. “First Look Studios creates a powerful platform to grow Ventura Homer Entertainment into an even stronger brand.” Winterstern founded First Look in 2005. The company has a theatrical release operation; home entertainment distribution operation; foreign sales operation, and branded entertainment arm.
