The Institute for Better Breathing in Burbank announced the creation of the first cough center” in Southern California, designed to treat people with emphysema, bronchitis and other chronic coughs. Conditions that cause chronic coughs kill over 100,000 people in the United States every year, making it the fourth leading cause of death and the second leading cause of disability in the country, according to a news release from the Institute. Dr. James Roach, a pulmonologist at the Institute, said most causes of chronic cough can be treat once the cause is known.
