Home Sales Plummet in Year

Single family home sales declined 24.7 percent in the San Fernando Valley in 2006, the Southland Regional Association of Realtors said. Condominium sales decreased 23.5 percent for the year. The trade association reported that the median price of a single-family home rose 6.4 percnet to $605,917 and the median price for condominiums rose 8.5 percent to $394,917. The realtors group said the pricing strength showed that the housing market was not in recession as some have claimed. Others point out that only top of the line homes are still in play and middle income buyers have all but disappeared.
