Edible film strips manufacturer InnoZen, Inc. has been acquired by a New York company in a deal worth about $40 million. The laboratory and manufacturing facilities of InnoZen will remain in Woodland Hills following its buyout by HealthSport, Inc., based in Amherst, N.Y. HealthSport and InnoZen have jointly developed three products planned for release this year. HealthSport is a developer and manufacturer of branded nutritional supplements using an edible film strip delivery system. InnoZen was the first company to deliver an active drug ingredient with its Chloraseptic Sore Throat Relief Strips in 2003. The acquisition of InnoZen allows HealthSport to rapidly formulate and develop new edible film products and other delivery systems for nutritional supplements and over-the-counter drugs.
