The cities of Glendale and Santa Clarita are among the finalists for the most business-friendly cities with populations of more than 50,000 as named by the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp. The winner will be announced Nov. 17 at the 13th annual Eddy Awards, which honors economic development leadership. More than 700 leaders from the business, government and education communities are expected to attend the awards. The finalists were chosen based on their commitment to economic development; excellence in programs and services designed to facilitate business entry, expansion and retention; economic development over the past three years; and competitive business tax rates and fee structures. During the Eddy Awards, real estate developer Rick Caruso and the Walt Disney Co. will also be honored for their private sector leadership in economic development.
