Meridian Health Care Files Chap. 7

Meridian Health Care Management Inc. has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, according to U.S. Bankruptcy Court records. The company’s board of directors gave approval April 28 to file the voluntary liquidation petition after determining it was “in the best interests of Meridian Health Care Management, its creditors and other interested parties.” The bankruptcy petition was filed on May 16. Debra Greengrass, the attorney representing Meridian, declined to discuss the case. Meridian, with offices in Warner Center, provides administrative services to hospitals and medical groups. The company listed $3.2 million in liabilities to 81 creditors, of which 62 are former employees including former president Michael Alper. The company’s assets were listed at $1.5 million. The written consent to file for bankruptcy was signed by directors Somshankar Das and Murrali Rangajaran. Das is founder, president and chief executive officer, and Rangajaran is chief operating officer of e4e, a business process services provider to the health care and financial industries headquartered in Santa Clara. Attempts to reach both Das and Rangajaran were not successful.
