More compensation sought for Santa Susana field lab workers

A federal compensation program for workers sickened by radiation or chemical exposure at Cold War-era facilities has paid only 125 claims filed by former Santa Susana Field Laboratory workers or their survivors, and California’s two U.S. senators are trying to fix that. Nearly 1,000 claim applications by field lab workers or their families have been filed. Of those, 741 have been determined to be covered by the Energy Employee Occupational Compensation Program, according to the U.S. Department of Labor, but only the 125 have been paid out.
