Providence Holy Cross Employees Raise Funds for Expansion

After a four week employee-driven effort, Providence Holy Cross Medical Center surpassed its goal of raising half a million dollars to contribute to the hospital’s $181 million expansion. The fundraising campaign ended June 16 and netted a total of $614,059 in personal donations and proceeds. The funds will help build and equip the four story Patient Care Wing under construction at the hospital, which will add 136 new patient beds, and will include the area’s first neonatal intensive-care unit as well as a new Women’s Pavilion with state-of-the-art labor and delivery suites. Some 77 employees participated in the effort by holding raffles, a pancake breakfast, and a hot dog lunch among a variety of other events, and 591 employees offered personal donations. The expansion, funded entirely by Providence Health & Services and private donations, is due to open in late 2010. Providence Holy Cross serves the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys.
