Retired executives in SCORE offer mentoring, advice to business owners

Chef Jimmy Wu mastered the art of the sushi roll and the delicate simplicity of sashimi, but when it came time to open his own restaurant, it was as if asking a novice the difference between red tuna and pink snapper. So Wu took some good advice and turned to an organization that helped him score the business of his dreams. Now, six years later, his Ahi Sushi restaurant on Ventura Boulevard in Studio City continues to lure both new clients and regular fans of his cuisine. “I knew how to be a chef, but running a business is totally different,” said Wu, who sought advice from SCORE, the Service Corps of Retired Executives, a nonprofit organization that dubs itself the “Counselors to America’s Small Business.” For the full story visit http://www.dailynews.com/ci_9596045
