Row 44 to Provide Broadband for Alaska Airlines

Row 44 will provide inflight broadband service for selected Alaska Airlines flights starting this month. The airline will run a free trial period on flights between Seattle and San Jose, Calif. and afterward determine a schedule to provide the broadband service to its entire fleet. Westlake Village-based Row 44 will provide the antennas and other equipment needed for passengers to use Wi-Fi enabled devices while a plane is in the air. The airline conducted extensive ground and inflight tests of the technology prior to the launch of the service trial to ensure the system does not interfere with aircraft navigation equipment. Row 44 will also provide inflight broadband connection for selected Southwest Airlines flights. Mark R. Madler
