Entertainment Fred Beiersdorf has been named vice president of DTS Cinema Group, a division of Agoura Hills-based Digital Theater Systems, which designs and markets feature film digital audio systems. Beiersdorf’s responsibilities will include expanding DTS Cinema’s presence in the distribution and exhibition communities, as well as evaluating the needs of those groups. Debbie Bohnett has been named vice president of synergy and special projects for the Walt Disney Co. Bohnett will be responsible for coordinating cross-promotional activity of Disney’s business units. Bohnett joined Disney in 1990; most recently, she was vice president of corporate alliances, overseeing the company’s 10-year-old alliance with McDonald’s Corp. Thomas O. Staggs has been promoted to Disney’s executive vice president and chief financial officer. Staggs will be responsible for controller functions, acquisitions, treasury activities, taxes and investor relations. Previously, he was senior vice president of strategic planning and development. Peter E. Murphy has been named Disney’s executive vice president and chief strategic officer. He will be responsible for strategic analysis, business development and long-term planning for the growth of Disney’s global business. Murphy previously was chief financial officer and senior vice president of ABC Inc. Louis M. Meisinger has been appointed executive vice president and general counsel. He previously was one of the four founding partners of Troop Meisinger Steuber & Pasich LLP. Dan Filie has been appointed senior vice president and executive in charge of dramatic production, worldwide television production at Universal City-based Universal Television and Networks Group. Filie will be responsible for developing television programming and features worldwide. He previously served as senior vice president of Universal Television Enterprises. Grace Newman has been promoted to vice president of national field marketing for the Windham Hill Group, one of the core labels of BMG Entertainment North America, a unit of BMG Entertainment. Newman previously was senior director of field marketing. Anthony Venezia has been appointed head of Glendale-based Available Light Ltd.’s new motion graphics division. Venezia previously was the owner and founder of Glendale-based Electric Filmworks Inc. Ed Zeier has been appointed senior vice president, post production, for Universal Studios Operations Group. Zeier joined the Studio Operations Group in 1985. In 1994, he became vice president, post production. Prior to joining Universal, Zeier was a consultant with Andersen Consulting. Engineering Richard C. Leach has been appointed vice president at PSI. Based at the Woodland Hills regional office, he will be responsible for overseeing environmental and facilities operations in the California region. Leach formerly was chief engineer for Law/Crandall, a division of Law Engineering Environmental Services. High Tech Tiffany Ternan has been promoted to national sales manager at THQ Inc. Ternan will report to Alison Locke, senior vice president of sales. She will be responsible for all Nintendo, Sony, PC CD-ROM and Macintosh software sales in North America. Ternan, who joined THQ in 1991, previously was director of sales. THQ, based in Calabasas, is a developer, publisher and distributor of interactive entertainment software. Real Estate Jeffrey C. Albee has joined Woodland Hills-based TOLD Partners as a senior vice president and partner. Albee will focus on corporate relocation as well as tenant and landlord representation throughout the San Fernando and Conejo valleys. Previously, Albee was senior broker with Lee & Associates. He has also been associated with Grubb & Ellis Co. and Cushman & Wakefield Inc. James S. Weld has joined Sherman Oaks-based Beitler Commercial Realty Service as senior vice president and investment specialist. Weld previously was senior vice president and regional manager of Value Property Trust’s real estate investment activities in the western region.
