The California Association of Realtors reported that home sales statewide dropped by 15.3 percent in December compared to the year ago period, and prices rose 3.7 percent for existing homes. The median price of an existing single family home in California during December was $567,690. Officials at C.A.R. noted that pricing was mixed across the state with urban areas reporting strongest pricing. In Los Angeles County, the median home price rose 5.8 percent from a year ago to $584,600, but declined 1 percent from November, 2006.
