A survey of existing homeowners revealed that 43 percent of women felt they did not spend enough time shopping for their home, while 23 percent of men said they spent too much time in the process. The survey, conducted by Countrywide Home Loans also found several areas where they felt their efforts in the process could have been improved. About 25 percent of respondents said they would save more money for a down payment and closing costs and learn more about the home buying process before they began negotiations for a home. Some 22 percent they would purchase a new home instead of an older home and 21 percent said they would buy in a different neighborhood.
