Technicolor Opens Blu-ray Testing Center

Technicolor opened a testing center for Blu-ray discs at its Burbank facility, the company announced. The center is the first operated by Technicolor that has been approved by the Blu-Ray Disc Association to test commercial audiovisual content for the association. Blu-ray discs require a sophisticated level of testing because of the cutting edge video, audio and interactive features. The testing center addresses the demand by studios and content producers for a knowledge center to improve disc compatibility and performance, and accelerate the release of Blu-ray disc titles into the market. “We are very excited to establish this Blu-ray Disc testing center,” said Bob Michaels, vice president of world wide DVD compression and authoring services. “This will provide a value-added service to the industry and ultimately result in a better user experience of Blu-ray discs.”
