Teledyne Subsidiary to Acquire East Coast Company

A subsidiary of Thousand Oaks-based Teledyne Technologies Inc. has bought a New England electrical and fiber optic system manufacturer. Terms of the deal between Industry-based Teledyne Instruments Inc. and D.G. O’Brien Inc. were not disclosed. The acquisition coupled with the buy-out last year of Ocean Design Inc. allows Teledyne to provide end-to-end products for the offshore oil and gas, defense, oceanographic and telecom markets, said company CEO Robert Mehrabian in a statement. “In 2005, Teledyne embarked on a significant expansion in the marine instrumentation market and we now have an extensive line of sensors, communication devices and interconnect systems for the harsh marine environment.” Mehrabian said. D.G. O’Brien, founded in 1962 and headquartered in New Hampshire, designs and manufactures interconnect systems that transmit signals, data and power in applications requiring extreme reliability. O’Brien reported sales of $26.2 million in its 2006 fiscal year.
