The Chamber Report: Mixers, Awards

Calabasas Volvo of Calabasas hosted a business mixer to launch this area’s “From Sweden with LOV Tour,” introducing Volvo’s new XC60. Chamber members received a full demonstration of City Safety, the world’s first automatic braking system to come standard. On hand were Swedish dignitaries, Calabasas Chamber Board Members and City of Calabasas Officials. Canoga Park/West Hills The Chamber Network Breakfast, sponsored by Dr. Randall Caldron is set for March 19, beginning at 7:30 a.m. to approximately 9:00 a.m. The csot is $12 for Chamber members while non-members will pay $17. Call the office at (818) 884-4222 for reservations and to be on the Hotsheet notification list for future events. “In The Mix,” a multi-chamber mixer, will be April 2. The Canoga Park/West Hills Chamber, The Encino Chamber and The Woodland Hills-Tarzana Chamber will host the joint mixer at BJ’s Restaurant in Woodland Hills beginning at 5:30 p.m.. RSVP to the Chamber office (818) 884-4222. Chamber members no charge, Non members will pay $5. Applications are now being accepted for Walk of Hearts Foundation 2009 nominees. Granada Hills On Feb. 20, the Granada Hills Chamber of Commerce hosted their annual Installation Dinner which included the presentation of the Gil Benjamin Citizen if the Year Award to Rob Dickey. Dickey began his business involvement in the community in 1991 when he purchased a small rental business, “All Valley Party Rentals.” He served eight years as a director on the board of the Granada Hills Chamber of Commerce and worked on many of its activities including the Mike Casey Golf Classics, Texas Hold’em Tournaments, Granada Hills Holiday Parades, and Monte Carlo Casino Nights. Dickey served as president of the Chamber in 2006. He has been a member of the Granada Hills Rotary Club since 1993 and served as its President-Elect during the 1999-2000 fiscal year and President during the following year. During his year as president, the Club received more District awards than in any of the previous 20 years. He now serves on the Board of the Granada Hills Rotary Foundation. In 2004, Dickey was recognized by the United Chambers of Commerce as the Granada Hills Small Business Owner of the Year. Thousand Oaks-Westlake Village Businesses connected during the Thousand Oaks-Westlake Village Regional Chamber of Commerce Spring Business Expo and Trade Show on March 12. The event took place at the Hyatt Westlake Plaza in the garden patio area. Local restaurants presented food samples and a huge collection of prizes were raffled.
