Time Warner Cable announced that it will launch a new Family Choice Tier during the first quarter of 2006. It will include 15 family-friendly channels and can be ordered by anyone who subscribes to the minimum basic service tier. The Family Choice Tier will include 15 channels including Boomerang, C-SPAN 2, C-SPAN 3, CNN Headline News, The Science Channel, Discovery Kids, Disney Channel, DIY Network, FIT-TV, Food Network, HGTV, La Familia, Nick Games & Sports, The Weather Channel and Toon Disney. The average monthly charge for basic service is about $12, and the Family Choice Tier will cost an additional $12.99. Time Warner will send bill-stuffers and other promotional materials to customers throughout early next year to promote the new Family Choice Tier.
