Valleytalk

Good Timing Talk about your lemonade from lemons. When the Studio City Residents Association realized it wouldn’t make an early-summer opening date for a proposed farmers market, the group debated waiting until next spring to start its new venture. Finally, it was decided to go with a fall date, Sept. 20. The timing was the result of a series of problems that resulted when some businesses objected to the location selected for the market, and from difficulties in getting funding. Although the group finally settled the differences, many worried about missing the height of the season by opening in the fall. It turned out that all they missed was the heat of the season. With the mercury topping 100 degrees in many parts of the Valley through most of the summer, the Studio City Residents Association is looking pretty smart. Who needs wilted vegetables?
