Black Entrepreneurs Month

The Business Journal’s celebration of Black Entrepreneurs Month coincides with Black History Month for a reason: Many of the companies profiled in this issue have a long presence in the Valley. The Original Coleyís has served Jamaican food here for 40 years, both as a sit-down restaurant and as a ghost kitchen. StylesVille Barber Shop & Beauty Salon has an even longer legacy, dating to the late 1950s. But the profiles on the following pages also feature the recent startup Loving Me Books and the repositioning of Momís Haus, a 32-year-old restaurant. They include a pioneering doctor and a luxury spa owner. The profiles together express Black history from the past, through the present and projected to the future as these companies evolve and contribute to the Valley economy.
