Capstone HQ Hosts IndyCar Drivers

Capstone Turbine Corp. had a visit this month from two of its brand ambassadors. IndyCar drivers Conor Daly and Colton Herta were given a tour of the manufacturing area at the microturbine developer’s Van Nuys headquarters. The drivers also met with employees, answered questions from Chief Executive Darren Jamison and signed autographs on hats and posters. During the hour-long tour, Herta and Daly were impressed by Capstone technology and how the company develops its microturbines to spin at 96,000 rpm, Jamison said. “They are turning their cars at 12,000 rpm so they understand speed and technology and all that goes into making a product,” he added. Herta, 19, is a Valencia native, and Daly, 27, is from Indiana. Both had fathers who were race car drivers. Derek Daly raced both Formula 1 and Indy cars, while Bryan Herta was a winning IndyCar and Champ Car driver. “Racing is very much a family type thing,” Daly said. “If your family is in it, then you are going to be in it.”
