BYD Motors Inc. 46147 BYD Boulevard, Lancaster Chinese battery and electric-vehicle manufacturer BYD Motors operates from a 120,000-square-foot building it moved into in 2013. The company is making 40-foot long electric buses for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, and the Antelope Valley Transit Authority. The company, a division of BYD Co. Ltd., based in Shenzhen, has a battery pack assembly facility in a separate building in Lancaster. Morton Manufacturing 201 East Avenue K-15, Lancaster Aerospace parts supplier Morton Manufacturing is moving into a new building in the Lancaster Business Park from its long-time facility in Santa Clarita. About 30 employees have transitioned to the 88,000-square foot plant, as of this month. Founded in 1967, Morton is one of the leading worldwide suppliers of nickel-alloy bolts for gas-turbine aircraft, as well as gas-turbine engines used in other industries. Palmdale Development Property Sierra Highway & East Avenue M, Palmdale The city owns 600 acres of vacant land adjacent to the Metrolink railroad tracks and U.S. Air Force Plant 42 for industrial use. There is a retention basin and a Joshua tree preserve on the site. Summit Power Group, in Seattle, is proposing to build a natural gas power plant on 50 acres, and has received approvals from the California Energy Commission and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Remaining lots are carved up in sizes ranging from 60 acres to over 200 acres. Former Senior Systems building 600 Technology Drive, Palmdale Senior Systems Inc., a manufacturer of electronic components and circuit boards, went bankrupt in 2012, leaving empty one of the largest industrial buildings in Palmdale. The 130,000-square-foot building has drawn interest from potential tenants, including a South Korean wind turbine manufacturer, but no deal has been signed as of this month. Project 029 38900 Trade Center Drive, Palmdale Toneman Development Corp. in Lancaster is developing 24,000 square feet of medical office on 2.1 acres down the hill from the Palmdale Regional Medical Center. The property will be divided into three pieces of land, each with a building of 7,500- to 9,100 square feet. The asking price is $195 a square foot, or $1.48 million to $1.77 million for one building and parking. Challenger Business Park Fifth St. West and Palmdale Blvd., Palmdale (southeast corner) Challenger Business Park comprises two buildings totaling more than 24,000 square feet built by Martin Properties Inc., in Westlake Village. The property’s seven spaces ranging from 1,000 square feet to 13,000 square feet are 100 percent full. The property was marketed for medical space because of its close proximity to the Palmdale Regional Medical Center.
