Invesco Tourney Moves to Florida

Earlier this month, Colin “Monty” Montgomerie won the Invesco QQQ Championship in Thousand Oaks, bringing to an end the golf tournament’s stay in the Conejo Valley. In an email, Phil Bough, former executive director of the championship, said he would be “moving on to a new challenge,” and the tournament will move to Boca Raton, Fla. During its four years at Sherwood Country Club, the tournament raised $750,000 for local nonprofits, particularly Boys & Girls Clubs, Bough stated in the email. Montgomerie won the tournament in dramatic fashion. He came from five shots behind with a tournament course-record 63 on the last round to enter a playoff against Bernhard Langer. On the first hole, Langer hit into a bunker. It took six taps for him to reach the green, at which point Montgomerie putted for a par 4 to win. “It was an exciting final day,” Montgomerie said in a statement to Skechers, which supplies his footwear and apparel on the course. “In the playoff, the bunker gave my opponent trouble, so there was also some luck on my side… There’s nothing like a win, and I’m happy to be supported on and off the field by so many, including Skechers.”
