Next Project: Chinese Park

By MARK R. MADLER Staff Reporter Legacy Entertainment has been chosen by OCT Group for a new project in China. The theme park project for the Happy Valley chain would be the eighth in China for the North Hollywood attraction design firm. Legacy President Taylor Jeffs said the company was honored to have been selected by OCT to help create the next generation of Happy Valley parks. “Ever since my first visit to a Happy Valley park in 2007, my team and I have dreamed of a collaboration with OCT – so it is thrilling and humbling for us now that that dream has come true,” Jeffs said in a statement. Established in 1998 in the city of Shenzhen, Happy Valley grew into a chain of theme parks anchored by thrill rides, including multiple roller coasters. The parks are located in Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Wuhan, Tianjin, and Chongqin. An eighth park will open later this year in Nanjing. The announcement of Happy Valley Zhengzhou comes during a turbulent time for China’s theme park industry, with the majority of the country’s tourist attractions temporarily closed due to the coronavirus pandemic. “OCT’s unflinching support of China’s theme park and tourism industry is a testament to what has made them so successful over the last two decades,” Jeffs added in his statement.
