Stocks showed a rebound in the two-week period ended Aug. 20 as a quarterly earnings period ended and international tensions eased in the Ukraine and Middle East. The Dow increased 3.3 percent and neared 17,000 while the Nasdaq exchange went up by 3.9 percent. The Valley 50 showed a 3.4 percent increase. Mandalay Digital Group Inc. landed among the top gainers with an increase of 58 percent after the company reported an increase in revenue and narrowing net loss. MannKind Corp. was among the poor performers with a drop of 12 percent following its second-quarter earnings in which the net loss widened to $73.4 million compared to a year ago.
