Uovo, Sugarfish at Sportsmen’s Lodge

Partners Jerry Greenberg and Carlo and Lele Massimini are bringing their popular Uovo restaurant concept to the new Sportsmen’s Lodge currently under construction in Studio City.

The restaurateurs also own Sugarfish, KazuNori, Nozawa Bar and Hi Ho Cheeseburger. The original Sugarfish nearby in Studio City, helmed by star sushi chef Kazunori Nozawa, will relocate to Sportsmen’s Lodge as well.

Uovo (“egg” in Italian) prides itself on serving up hand-made Italian noodles flown in overnight from Bologna, Italy.  “There is no pasta you can get like this in the United States,” said Carlo Massimini.

With its signature island — a counter surrounding a transparent kitchen where pasta is cooked at different temperatures and then served directly to customers — and sleek, contemporary feel, the Studio City Uovo will have all the hallmarks of the Santa Monica original and Mid-Wilshire restaurants.  In 2019, New York-based developer Midwood Investment & Development announced a $100 million overhaul of the Sportsmen’s Lodge facility with a new mixed-use hotel complex. The restaurant-and-retail component should begin rolling out by summer’s end.

At the new Shops at Sportsmen’s Lodge at Coldwater Canyon and Ventura Boulevard, Uovo will join an Erehwon grocery and Equinox gym – “a very curated quality group,” as Carlo Massimini called it.
