 LegalZoom.com Inc., the online seller of do-it-yourself legal documents, has appointed John Murphy to its board. Murphy works as chief financial officer at software firm Adobe Inc.

He serves as an independent director and chairs the audit committee. LegalZoom went public on June 30 with a first-day market cap of $7.5 billion. … Estate planning and elder care attorney Terri Hilliard was named to serve as District 6 governor for California Women Lawyers, representing a five-county region. The owner of the firm Terri Hilliard PC in Westlake Village will represent members of the bar organization to advance women in the profession. … Ayla Kalani is the new market team leader for J.P. Morgan’s private banking office in Westlake Village. In this role, she will lead a team of local advisors who offer guidance on investing, philanthropy, family office management and credit. Kalani previously worked as a private banker for the company in Orange County. “Southern California continues to attract families, individuals and businesses grappling with the challenges of significant wealth,” she said in a statement. “I’m thrilled to be leading the business in Westlake Village.” … Glendale City Council has appointed Mark Young as general manager of Glendale Water & Power. He has worked at the agency for 32 years as power plant control operator, electrical system dispatcher, acting power scheduler, energy trading manager and assistant general manager. “Mark understands what it takes to provide quality, affordable and reliable service to Glendale residents and businesses,” Mayor Paula Devine said in a statement. … The board of Glendale Arts, the nonprofit that manages the Alex Theatre in Glendale, has voted unanimously to promote Nina Crowe to chief executive and Maria Sahakian to chief operating officer. Crowe has been with Glendale Arts for more than 10 years, serving as co-managing director. Since joining the organization in 2003, Sahakian has booked more than 3,400 dates at the Alex which have generated nearly $30 million in revenue.
