Wagers for the Preakness hit a record $4.4 million at online wagering site Youbet.com, the company announced. Woodland Hills-based Youbet handled 9,100 concurrent users on Preakness race day on May 19, the sixth busiest online wagering day in the company’s history. The company is proving that it is expanding the reach of horseracing by appealing to an Internet-centric audience, said Youbet CEO Charles Champion. “And more than just reach, we are bringing new money to the wagering pools that do business with us,” Champion said.
