Realtors Award $1 Million in Housing Assistance to Fire Victims

The California Association of Realtors has begun awarding $1 million in housing assistance grants to homeowners and renters affected by the Woolsey, Hill and Camp fires. Households can apply for up to $2,000 for mortgage relief or to help pay for temporary housing. The Conejo Simi Moorpark Association of Realtors in Thousand Oaks requested the aid, which was made possible by a donation from the Chicago-based Realtors Relief Foundation. “With so many homes and businesses lost and a housing crisis that existed long before the fires, realtors recognize the importance of reaching out and helping their communities to recover and rebuild,” Gayle Sutton, president of the Conejo Simi Moorpark Association of Realtors, said in a statement. The Woosley Fire burned nearly 97,000 acres and destroyed 1,500 homes in northern Los Angeles County this November. In Ventura County, the Hill Fire burned 4,500 acres and destroyed four structures.
