College of the Canyons Renews Training Contract

The California Employment Training Panel, or ETP, a statewide workforce development program, has awarded a contract valued at roughly $550,000 to the College of the Canyons Employee Training Institute, the college announced Wednesday. The contract is the 13th of its kind to be granted to the institution. “This represents over two decades of providing ETP-funded training for local employers,” John Milburn, director of the institute, said in a prepared statement. “We have many manufacturers here in the Santa Clarita Valley that benefit from this program every year.” The two-year reimbursement contract supports employee training programs in Lean Six Sigma, project management, manufacturing skills and supply chain management. Companies can offset training costs as much as 75 percent by utilizing the funds. Courses are conducted by the institute’s staff on-site at client businesses.
