College of the Canyons
Not only is Van Hook the chancellor of a community college but she is a graduate of one as well, having earned an associate of arts degree from Long Beach City College. She has dedicated her career, much of it at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, to removing barriers and expanding access. Van Hook has spent 34 years as chancellor of Santa Clarita Community College District, which consists of the Valencia and Canyon Country campuses of College of the Canyons. The college has more than 32,000 enrolled students and offers nearly 250 degree and certificate programs; it also provides training programs to more than 2,700 local companies.
