Fienup is the executive director of the Center for Economic Research and Forecasting at California Lutheran University. Because of the center’s forecasting accuracy, it has received Crystal Ball awards in 2019, 2020 and 2021 for its Zillow Home Price Expectations Survey. He and his colleagues also generate the annual Valley Economic Forecast with the Business Journal. Fienup also is an associate professor of economics in the university’s Master of Quantitative Economics program. Fienup serves as Exchange Administrator for the Fox Canyon Water Market, the first groundwater market of its kind in California. A prolific rock climber, he has worked as a professional guide and founded his own climbing school, Earthworks, in 2000.
