Los Angeles City Council
Since 2013 Blumenfield has represented the San Fernando Valley on the Los Angeles City Council. He previously served in the State Assembly and helped guide California through the crisis of the Great Recession as chair of the Assembly Budget Committee. More recently, he helped lead Los Angeles through the Covid-19 pandemic by opening up some of the largest testing and vaccination sites in the city, crafting laws to support local businesses, supporting health care workers and more. Through the crisis, he remained focused on delivering more city services and new and improved parks. His signature efforts include Reseda Rising and the Canoga Park Cultural Arts Hub.
