DataDirect Buys Storage Firm Nexenta

DataDirect Networks will acquire Nexenta, a software-defined data storage company serving 5G and Internet of Things markets. Financial terms of the deal between DataDirect, in Chatsworth, and Nexenta, in San Jose, were not disclosed. The transaction gives DataDirect about 3,000 telecom and service provider customers, 300 market partners, 50 patents and nearly 2,000 petabytes of storage capacity. DataDirect Chief Executive Alex Bouzari said that Nexenta helped create the software-defined storage market and has deployed more than $100 million of software across the globe. “With the addition of Nexenta’s great team and IP, DataDirect Networks is broadening our markets beyond AI, big data, virtualization and multi-cloud, and accelerating our investments in next generation 5G, IoT and enterprise software,” Bouzari said in a statement. Nexenta Chief Executive Tarkan Maner said that as part of DataDirect, the company will scale financially and operationally and give customers and partners more options as they build and expand their multi-cloud and artificial intelligence capabilities.
