Antelope Valley Hospital Announces Partnership with USC Urology

Antelope Valley Hospital in Lancaster has entered into a partnership with the USC Institute of Urology to provide robotic surgery for urologic cancers using the da Vinci Si surgical robot at AV Hospital. The local robotic urology program will provide advanced surgical options for patients of the Antelope Valley who will no longer need to travel out of town for care. Inderbir S. Gill, M.D., director of the USC Institute of Urology, is an internationally recognized leader in the field of robotic and laparoscopic surgery for urologic cancers and will serve as the medical director of the program at AV Hospital. Some of the benefits of robotic surgery include smaller incisions and less scarring, decreased risk of injury to nearby organs, less blood loss and pain, a shorter hospital stay and a quicker return to normal activity and work. Dr. Inderbir and AV Hospital CEO Edward Mirzabegian will be at AV Hospital on Thursday to discuss the new partnership.
