Briefs: Conversant, Semtech, Interlink

Digital marketing firm Conversant Inc. beat analysts’ earnings and revenue estimates for the fourth quarter. The Westlake Village company reported on Tuesday net income of $45 million (66 cents a share) compared with $36.3 million (47 cents) in the same period a year earlier. Revenue increased 6 percent to $176 million. Analysts estimated earnings of 57 cents on revenue of $169 million, according to Thomson Financial Network. Earlier this month, the company changed its name from ValueClick Inc. Shares closed up 32 cents, or about 1.5 percent, to $21.74 on the Nasdaq. Semtech Corp. is among the investors contributing to $5.5 million investment in Powervation, an Irish manufacturer of digital power controllers. The Camarillo company joined Intel Capital, in Santa Clara; Venture Tech Alliance, in San Jose; Scottish Equity Partners, in Glasgow; and Braemar Energy Ventures, in New York in providing the financing. All have invested in Powervation previously. Powervation, in Cork, will use the money to expand its product portfolio and grow the company to meet market demand. Shares closed up 38 cents, or nearly 2 percent, to $23.02 on the Nasdaq. Interlink Electronics Inc. has opened two new overseas subsidiaries, one to handle sales out of Europe and another to do research and development in Asia. The Camarillo manufacturer of touch pad and mouse technology has hired Neil Jarvie to head up Interlink Electronics Europe Ltd. in London as the vice president of global sales and business development. Interlink Electronics Singapore Private Ltd. will be the company’s R&D center for developing strategic technology and identifying synergistic R&D partnerships. Shares were unchanged at $10 in over-the-counter trading.
