Briefs: Disney, Ryland, Cheesecake

The soundtrack from the movie “Frozen” was ranked as the No. 1 best-selling album in 2014 on the year-end Billboard 200 chart, the Walt Disney Co. announced Tuesday. The Burbank entertainment company released “Frozen” in November 2013. The film’s soundtrack spent 13 weeks at the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s music chart. The soundtrack was also named iTune’s No. 1 best-selling album of 2014. Shares of Disney closed down 86 cents or nearly 1 percent to $92.94 on the New York Stock Exchange. Ryland Homes opened two new single-family housing developments in the Minneapolis suburb of Lakeville, Minn. on Tuesday. The Westlake Village builder has begun selling homes at The Meadow at Cedar Landing and The Villas at Cedar Landing. Prices start in the $260,000 range and top out in around $315,000. Homes run as large as five bedrooms. The Villas development offers detached homes and an association-maintained neighborhood, while the Meadows is a traditional subdivision. Shares of Ryland closed up 73 cents or 1.9 percent to $38.31 on the New York Stock Exchange. The Cheesecake Factory opened two new restaurants Tuesday, one in Bay Shore, N.Y. and the other in Fort Worth, Texas. The Calabasas restaurant chain said the Bay Shore location has approximately 8,100 square feet to accommodate 210 guests, while the Texas outlet has 8,700 square feet for 230 guests. The chain has a total of 177 locations nationwide. Shares closed unchanged at $48,54 on the Nasdaq.
