Briefs: KCETLink, Cherokee

Independent public television company KCETLink, in Burbank, has named Jeffrey Levine and Dan German to its board of directors. Levine serves as vice president and head of television for Random House Studio, a New York division of book publisher Penguin Random House that makes feature films and television series. He also worked at film production company Spring Creek Productions. German is founder and general partner of Fort Mason Asset Management, a money management firm in San Francisco. Levine and German bring an expertise to the board in media and finance, said KCETLink Chairman Dick Cook. “We welcome their exceptional leadership and business savvy as we search for a new chief executive and continue our course for innovation and success in public media,” said Cook, in a prepared statement. Cherokee Inc.’s board of directors today approved a quarterly dividend of 5 cents a common share to its stockholders. The Sherman Oaks apparel brand licensor will distribute the dividends on June 15 to stockholders of record as of April 11. Last year, the company issued 10-cent dividends every quarter. “Both our boards of directors and management team remain committed to maximizing stockholder value,” said Henry Stupp, chief executive of Cherokee. Shares closed down 31 cents, or 2.3 percent, to $13.19 on the Nasdaq.
