Briefs: National Technical, American Homes, Studio City Property Sale

National Technical Systems Inc., a Calabasas engineering and testing company, announced Thursday it has acquired National Quality Assurance in England. National Quality, headquartered in Dunstable, north of London, certifies that companies meet industrial and commercial standards set by the International Organization for Standardization for multiple industries, including aerospace, food and beverage, transportation and medical. National Technical provides testing and engineering services for the aerospace, defense and transportation industries at facilities throughout the United States, including a 150-acre site in Santa Clarita. It is owned by Aurora Capital Group, an L.A. private equity investment firm. Chief Executive William McGinnis said integrating National Quality into NTS’s workflow will be seamless. “Our customers can expect the exact same high-quality services they have always received from NQA,” McGinnis said in a prepared statement. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Real estate investment trust American Homes 4 Rent on Tuesday declared a quarterly dividend of 5 cents a common share. The Agoura Hills company will pay the dividend on March 31 to shareholders of record as of March 15. American Homes is the second-largest single-family landlord in the nation. Shares on Wednesday closed down 22 cents, or more than 1 percent, to $16.55 on the New York Stock Exchange. An eight-unit apartment building in Studio City has been sold for $1.95 million. The property at 12827 Kling St. was sold Fred and Gerda Gober, of Playa Vista, to Daniel and Melanie Zermeno, of Glendale. The 7,300-square foot, garden-style apartment complex was built in 1958 and last sold in 2005 for $1.5 million. It is a mix of one- and two-bedroom units. The sellers were motivated by the desire to trade up to a non-management-intensive property, said Earle Hyman, of Marcus & Millichap’s Encino office, who represented them. The buyers sold a building in Hollywood to purchase this complex because they wanted something closer to home and in a better area. Marcus & Millichap’s Oscar Varela represented the buyers.
