Northrop Grumman Corp. received on Monday a $354 million contract to supply three additional RQ-4 Global Hawk unmanned aircraft to the U.S. Air Force. The aircraft, to be assembled and tested at Northrop’s Palmdale facility, will be delivered in late 2016 and 2017. The additional aircraft brings the Air Force fleet to 37 Global Hawks, which are used for intelligence gathering, surveillance and reconnaissance. “The Air Force’s commitment to putting more Global Hawks in the air and our dedication to meeting affordability agreements for production and sustainment ensure that this vital asset will remain sustainable and viable for many years,” said Mick Jaggers, Global Hawk program manager, in a prepared statement.
