Briefs: Warner Bros., Capstone Turbine

Warner Bros. Entertainment on Thursday named David Haddad executive vice president and general manager of its interactive entertainment division. Haddad will oversee the daily operations, including the development, publishing and marketing of video and mobile games at the Burbank entertainment company. Warner Bros. Interactive has produced games based on popular Warner properties such as Lego, Batman, and “Lord of the Rings.” This year it will release a Mad Max game to tie in with the newest film in that franchise coming this summer, “Mad Max: Fury Road.” “We will continue our strategic focus on producing games based on our key franchises with our outstanding development studios, as well as extend our mobile and live games capabilities,” Haddad said in a prepared statement. Haddad had been vice president of publishing operations for the interactive division. He has also worked for video game maker Activision Blizzard Inc., Mattel Inc. and Walt Disney Co. Capstone Turbine Corp. has received an order for fourteen of its natural gas-powered microturbines for multiple cogeneration projects in Mexico. This is the second large Mexican order for the Chatsworth manufacturer in the past month, with the two orders valued at a combined $17 million. For the latest order, Mexican distributor DTC Ecoenergia shipped two C1000 microturbines in late December and will send the others this year as the energy projects are completed. In December, Capstone received an order for 22 microturbines to power compression and metering stations along a natural gas pipeline in eastern Mexico. Shares closed up 1 cent to 74 cents on the Nasdaq.
