CEO of Princess Cruises Honored by UCLA Business School

Alan Buckelew, president and CEO of Santa Clarita-based Princess Cruises, was honored by the UCLA Anderson School of Management with the 2011 IS Associates Executive Leadership Award. The award, given annually, recognizes executives who demonstrate an extraordinary job of leading their companies, while utilizing information technology within their businesses. Buckelew’s career within the cruise industry spans over 30 years. The UCLA Anderson MBA graduate has served as Princess’s CEO since June 2007. Buckelew will be presented with his award at the IS Associates Executive Leadership Award Dinner on November 30 at the UCLA campus. Princess Cruises, a brand of Carnival Corporation, features a fleet of 16 modern ships that sail world wide and serves approximately 1.3 million passengers each year. Andrew Beauchamp, an IBM Business Development Executive and Chair of the 2011 Executive Leadership Award Dinner said the organization is pleased to honor Buckelew for his efforts in integrating IT into Princess Cruises’s strategy and execution. “His deep understanding of the business as well as information technology has enabled him to focus investments in the areas that drive the biggest improvements for Princess Cruises’ customers and employees,” Beauchamp said.
